Computer Vision & Robotics Intern

Mission

We want to automate human work in factories. We are starting with quality inspection.

Trenon is building a perception system that understands physical work as it happens.

Our first product uses first-person cameras worn by production workers. It observes manual assembly, identifies which parts are present, which process step is running, and whether the expected sequence is being followed. When something goes wrong, it flags the deviation before it becomes rework, scrap, or a defect that reaches the customer.

Quality inspection is the starting point. Over time, every deployment can also capture first-person data on how skilled workers perform physical tasks. Our longer-term hypothesis is that this becomes training data for robotic manipulation.

Understand human work. Verify it. Learn from it. Automate it.

We are two founders, backed by Entrepreneurs First, and are starting our first factory deployments in the US. As one of our first engineering hires, you will work directly with the founders on the core perception system.

What you’ll work on

You will help us take computer vision from controlled experiments to real factory environments.

Depending on your background, you will work on

  • Building and improving computer vision pipelines for detection, classification, tracking, and temporal understanding.
  • Testing first-person perception under camera motion, changing viewpoints, occlusion, motion blur, and changing lighting.
  • Working with synthetic and real-world data to identify failure cases and improve model performance.
  • Training, evaluating, and debugging PyTorch vision models.
  • Exploring geometric vision, calibration, localization, pose estimation, and 3D perception.
  • Optimizing models for low-latency inference and edge deployment.
  • Building evaluation tools and experiments to measure whether the system actually works in real-world conditions.
  • Supporting factory deployments and learning directly from how the system performs on the shop floor.

You will work closely with the CTO and get significant ownership over real technical problems rather than isolated intern projects.

Who we’re looking for

You are studying computer science, robotics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field and are excited about computer vision and physical AI.

You should be comfortable with Python and have some hands-on experience with computer vision, machine learning, or robotics.

Experience with PyTorch, OpenCV, object detection, tracking, synthetic data, SLAM/VIO, 3D vision, CUDA/TensorRT, ROS2, or NVIDIA Jetson is a plus — but we do not expect you to know all of these.

We care much more about whether you can learn quickly, build things, debug problems, and take ownership than about your degree, university, or previous employer.

Why this internship is unusual

You will not be working on a side project that never ships.

You will work directly with both founders on the core technology, see your work tested in real manufacturing environments, and get exposure to the full process from model development to deployment.

You will join at a stage where individual engineering decisions still meaningfully shape the product and technical direction of the company.

The longer-term technical question is larger than quality inspection:

Can first-person perception of human work become the data and intelligence layer required to automate that work?

If that sounds like a problem you want to work on, we want to talk.
